Woodland Ferry

The Woodland Ferry, also known as Cannon's Ferry, is a historic cable ferry in Sussex County, Delaware, operating year-round across the Nanticoke River. Established in the 1740s, it is one of the oldest ferries in continuous operation in the U.S. and has significant historical ties, including its association with slave runner Patty Cannon. The ferry was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1973, and its current vessel, the Tina Fallon, can transport six vehicles at a time. Visitors can enjoy the annual Woodland Ferry Festival in September, celebrating the ferry's cultural impact.
