Mission Dolores archaeological investigations

Mission San Francisco de Asís (Mission Dolores) is the oldest surviving structure in San Francisco and its grounds have been subject to archaeological study. Investigations on site have documented pre‑mission indigenous occupation layers and mission‑era features, and have identified burials associated with the historic mission cemetery. Artifacts and research from these studies are curated and interpreted by the mission museum and affiliated researchers.
