Rice Stadium - site of Super Bowl VIII

Rice Stadium on the Rice University campus hosted Super Bowl VIII on January 13, 1974. The stadium, opened in 1950, served as a major college football venue and was selected to host the NFL championship game during the early era of Super Bowls. The game at Rice Stadium marked Houston's first time hosting a Super Bowl.
