Yehuda Halevi Synagogue

The Yehuda Halevi Synagogue, located in the Colonia Roma neighborhood of Mexico City, is a significant Jewish congregation established between 1941 and 1942. Named after the renowned medieval Spanish philosopher and poet Yehudah Halevi, the synagogue serves the Sephardic Jewish community of Mexico City, which unified in 1924. After years of using various community spaces, the congregation acquired land to build their own synagogue, designed by engineer Francisco Cánovas, inspired by a Sephardic synagogue in Bulgaria. This architectural gem not only reflects the rich history of Jews in Mexico but also stands as a testament to the community's resilience and cultural heritage.
