Gerding Theatre at the Armory (historic armory repurposed for theater)

The building known as the Armory was constructed in the late 19th century as a National Guard armory and later became home to Portland Center Stage as the Gerding Theatre. The structure underwent a major rehabilitation and conversion for theatrical use, with Portland Center Stage moving its primary operations there in 2006. The Armory is frequently noted as a prominent example of large-scale adaptive reuse of a historic civic building in Portland's Pearl District.
