Casa Grande del Pueblo

The Casa Grande del Pueblo, inaugurated on August 9, 2018, serves as the presidential residence of Bolivia, replacing the historic Palacio Quemado. This striking 30-story tower, standing at 131 meters, is the tallest building in La Paz and features a unique design that incorporates cultural elements, including a mural of Pachamama and representations of Bolivia's indigenous groups. The building includes luxurious amenities for the president, such as a gym, spa, and a lavish presidential suite. Despite its modernity, the site faced controversy due to the demolition of the historic Casa Alencastre. The Casa Grande del Pueblo has also been a focal point of political tension, notably during a coup attempt in June 2024, highlighting its significance in Bolivian politics.
