Puritan Farm

Puritan Farm, also known as the Keitt-Whaley-Pearlstine House, is a historic plantation house located near St. Matthews in Calhoun County, South Carolina. Built between 1820 and 1825, this impressive two-story clapboard frame I-house features a distinctive pedimented second-floor porch, two rear wings, and a full-width front porch supported by six square columns. Notably, it served as the residence of Congressman Laurence M. Keitt, a prominent figure in the South Carolina secessionist movement, who was born here in 1824 and lived in the house until his death in 1864. The property was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1974, making it a significant site for both tourists and researchers interested in American history and architecture.
