Indian Mission

The Indian Mission, now the Luckhard Museum, is a historic Native American Christian mission located in Sebewaing, Michigan. Built in 1849 by missionary John J. Auch, it served as a home and mission for the local Ojibwe tribe. The building showcases unique architectural features, including a gabled roof and double-hung sash windows. After years of neglect, it was restored in 1954 and now houses a collection of pioneer-era artifacts, along with a replica of Auch's original log house. This site offers a glimpse into the early interactions between Native Americans and European settlers, making it a fascinating destination for tourists and researchers alike.
