Lacawac

Lacawac is a historic estate in Wayne County, Pennsylvania, originally built in 1903 as a summer retreat for Congressman William Connell. Designed in the Adirondack Great Camp style, the estate features six of its original eight structures, including a main house with distinctive two-story porches and southern yellow pine interiors. After Connell's passing, the estate became a summer home for Louis Arthur Watres and later transitioned into a nature preserve and ecological research station. Recognized for its historical significance, Lacawac was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1979, and its surrounding Lake Lacawac was designated a National Natural Landmark in 1968, making it an intriguing destination for both tourists and researchers interested in history and ecology.
