Presbyterian Orphans Home

The Presbyterian Orphans Home, now known as Presbyterian Homes & Family Services, is a historic orphanage complex located in Lynchburg, Virginia. Featuring six residence halls and a gymnasium built in Georgian Revival and Greek Revival styles, the site includes various structures such as a superintendent's house, maintenance building, and swimming pool. Notably, it was the site of a tragic fire in 1909 that claimed the lives of five children. Established in 1911 and listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2010, this site offers a glimpse into the architectural and social history of orphan care in the early 20th century.
