Ghirardelli Square manufacturing misconception

Ghirardelli Square at the former chocolate factory site is often thought to still be the center of Ghirardelli chocolate production, but the complex was redeveloped into shops and restaurants in the 1960s and large-scale manufacturing was moved elsewhere decades ago. The retail Ghirardelli shop at the square sells and samples products but is not the company's primary production facility. The square is preserved as a historic landmark and tourist destination rather than an active factory site.
