Ryman Auditorium's Victorian-era performance hall

Opened in 1892 as the Union Gospel Tabernacle built by Captain Thomas G. Ryman, the Ryman Auditorium later became the longtime home of the Grand Ole Opry from 1943 to 1974. The building's interior retains Victorian-era woodwork and acoustic qualities prized by performers. After renovation it continues to operate as a concert venue and museum documenting Nashville's musical history.
