Helmsley Building (formerly New York Central Building)

Completed in 1929 and designed by Warren & Wetmore, the Helmsley Building sits above the Park Avenue Viaduct at the northern end of Park Avenue. Originally known as the New York Central Building, it was built as office space for railroad interests and is noted for its monumental archways that allow Park Avenue traffic to pass beneath. The building is a recognized feature of the Park Avenue civic corridor and is often cited in discussions of Midtown's early-20th-century office architecture.
