Yard of Bricks at Indianapolis Motor Speedway

When the Indianapolis Motor Speedway was paved with more than three million bricks in 1909, a one-yard strip of the original bricks was preserved at the start/finish line. That preserved section is known as the "Yard of Bricks" and is a traditional touchpoint for race winners and ceremonial events. The track continues to celebrate the brick paving in ceremonies and visible brickwork at the start/finish area.
