Morris-Jumel Mansion

Built in 1765, the Morris-Jumel Mansion is the oldest surviving house in Manhattan. It served as George Washington's temporary headquarters in 1776 during the Revolutionary War after the Battle of Harlem Heights. The house later became the home of Stephen and Eliza Jumel and today operates as a historic house museum interpreting colonial and early American life.
