Fort Negley Park (Civil War fortification site)

Fort Negley was constructed by Union forces in 1862 as a strategic inland fortification during the Civil War and was one of the largest inland forts built in the South at that time. The site is now Fort Negley Park, which preserves earthworks and archaeological remains and offers trails, interpretive signage, and public programs about the fort’s history. The park is an historic and recreational landmark in south-central Nashville.
