Houghton Fire Hall

The Houghton Fire Hall, also known as the Continental Fire Company Building, is a historic site located in Houghton, Michigan. Built in 1883, this Italianate-style brick structure served as a fire station and the original home of the Michigan Mining School. The building features a unique architectural design with a flat roof and a clock tower. It has played a significant role in the community's history, housing fire engines and village offices, and later serving as a storage facility for the university. In 2012, it was transformed into an entertainment venue, preserving its historical significance while adapting to modern uses. The site is part of the Shelden Avenue Historic District and is recognized as a Michigan State Historic Site, making it an interesting stop for tourists and researchers alike.
