Kahal Kadosh Mikveh Israel (Congregation Mikveh Israel)

Founded in 1740, Kahal Kadosh Mikveh Israel is one of the oldest Jewish congregations in the United States and played a continuous role in Philadelphia's Jewish communal life. The congregation's historic synagogue and associated records document 18th- and 19th-century religious infrastructure and immigrant community organization in Old City. The site has been interpreted for its long-standing liturgical, burial, and communal functions in the city's urban fabric.
