Buena Vista (St. Georges, Delaware)

Buena Vista is a historic house located in New Castle, Delaware, built between 1845 and 1847 in the Greek Revival style. This two-story brick dwelling features a service wing, a long hall, and a library designed by architect R. Brognard Okie, along with a full-width verandah supported by Doric columns. The estate was home to notable figures such as U.S. Senator John M. Clayton and Governor C. Douglass Buck, who donated it to the state. Named after the Battle of Buena Vista from the Mexican–American War, it was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1971 and now operates as the Buena Vista Conference Center, making it a unique destination for tourists and researchers interested in history and architecture.
