Saint John's Tower (Vatican City)

Saint John's Tower, or Torre San Giovanni, is a historic round structure perched on a hilltop in Vatican City, near Vatican Radio and the Vatican Gardens. Originally part of a medieval wall built by Pope Nicholas III, the tower fell into disuse in the 16th century but was restored by Pope John XXIII in the 1960s. Today, it serves as papal apartments for popes during maintenance of the Apostolic Palace and hosts distinguished guests. Notable figures such as Pope John Paul II and U.S. President George W. Bush have stayed here. Currently, it also houses the Secretariat for the Economy, making it a significant site within the Vatican.
