Boston selected then withdrew as U.S. 2024 Olympic bid city

On January 8, 2015 the United States Olympic Committee nominated Boston as the U.S. candidate city to bid for the 2024 Summer Olympics. The Boston 2024 bid committee and city officials announced the formal withdrawal of the bid on July 27, 2015 following public opposition and concerns over financing. The nomination and the subsequent municipal decisions were actions involving Boston city government offices. Boston City Hall is the municipal seat where city officials involved in the bid were based.
