Boston Opera House (formerly the B.F. Keith Memorial Theatre)

The building at 539 Washington Street opened in 1928 as the B.F. Keith Memorial Theatre, a large vaudeville and movie palace designed by Thomas W. Lamb. After periods of decline it was restored and reopened as the Boston Opera House in the 1980s and has hosted touring Broadway shows and large-scale performances since. The theatre's original opening, later restoration, and cultural role are documented in theatre and city histories.
