Haderslevhus

Haderslevhus, also known as Hansborg, was a significant medieval castle in Haderslev, Denmark, first mentioned in 1326 and likely built in the late 13th century. It served as the residence for the governor and was pivotal during the Reformation when Christian III stayed there in 1526. The castle underwent renovations under Duke Hans the Elder, who initiated the construction of a new Renaissance palace, Hansborg, completed in 1585. However, after being used as a military headquarters and suffering extensive damage, Haderslevhus was destroyed by fire in 1644, leading to its eventual abandonment. Today, only remnants of the castle remain, making it a point of historical interest for tourists and researchers alike.
