1 Macquarie Place, also known as Gateway Plaza, is a striking 46-storey skyscraper located in Sydney's central business district, prominently situated on the Circular Quay waterfront. Designed by Peddle, Thorp & Walker, this blue glass-clad building reaches a height of 164 meters (538 ft) and offers approximately 470,000 square feet of office space. The site has a rich history, with redevelopment proposals dating back to 1971, but construction only commenced in 1985. Notable tenants include the British Consulate-General and the University of Wollongong Sydney Business School. In 2018, significant redevelopment efforts were undertaken to enhance the building's structure and facilities, making it a key landmark in Sydney's skyline.
