55 Abbeyhill is a historic building in Edinburgh, originally designed as a police station in 1896 by Robert Morham. Its unique castellated Romanesque architecture features striking turrets and gargoyles. After serving as a police station until 1932, it transitioned to a religious hall and later became the Armenian Community Culture Centre, known for its quirky restaurant, Gastronom Aghtamar. This restaurant gained fame for its unconventional dining experience, including candlelit ambiance, word-of-mouth advertising, and interactive dining practices. Although it closed in 2010, the building remains a notable landmark, currently listed as at risk and on the market for redevelopment.
