By Seeker
Built 1892–1894 for brewer Christian Heurich and often called the Brewmaster's Castle, the mansion exemplifies late-19th-century domestic architecture in Washington, D.C. The house combines Romanesque and German Renaissance influences and is noted for its pressed brick, carved woodwork, and original interior finishes. It retains a large amount of original furnishings and decorative arts and operates today as a house museum documenting the period's urban domestic architecture. The building is a designated D.C. historic site.
