Straw House

The Straw House, a historic Queen Anne Victorian located in Guilford, Maine, was originally built around 1832 and underwent significant alterations in the 1880s. Known for its elegant architecture, including a distinctive octagonal tower and intricate wall artwork by 19th-century artist Moses Eaton, it served as a bed and breakfast inn, the Trebor Mansion Inn, from 1976 until its destruction by fire in 2019. The house was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1982, and despite suffering damage from fires and storms over the years, it was restored to reflect its 1880s appearance before its final loss. This site offers a glimpse into Maine's rich architectural history and the legacy of early textile industry pioneers.
