Williams Block

The Williams Block is a historic commercial building located at 183-187 Water Street in downtown Augusta, Maine. Constructed in 1862, it is the only surviving structure south of Bridge Street after a catastrophic fire in 1865 and is one of the few remaining commercial buildings designed by renowned architect Francis H. Fassett. The three-story brick building features distinctive architectural elements such as rounded-arch windows and a projecting cornice. It was built for prominent businessman Reuel Williams and was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1986, making it a significant landmark for both tourists and researchers interested in Maine's architectural history.
