16th Avenue Tiled Steps (Moraga Steps)

The 16th Avenue Tiled Steps are a community-created mosaic stairway in the Inner Sunset designed by artists Aileen Barr and Colette Crutcher and completed in 2005. The installation covers the risers of 163 steps with a continuous mosaic running from ocean motifs at the bottom to sky motifs at the top. The project was organized and built with neighborhood volunteers and is maintained as a public-art landmark.
