The Office of Personnel Management headquarters at 1900 E Street NW houses many federal personnel and retirement functions. Portions of the building and certain personnel records are restricted to authorized staff and researchers, with visitor entry routed through security screening. OPM also maintains controlled-access areas for background-investigation records and sensitive personnel files.
