Massachusetts Water Resources Authority (MWRA) headquarters and sewer/outfall management

The MWRA oversees regional wastewater treatment including operation of the Deer Island Wastewater Treatment Plant and management of major sewer outfalls that receive combined sanitary and storm flows from the Boston area. MWRA implemented large-scale tunnel and outfall projects to reduce combined sewer overflows to Boston Harbor and conducts inspections and maintenance of outfall structures. MWRA also provides data and reports on CSO events affecting Boston Harbor and adjacent shorelines.
