Cabin of Peter the Great

The Cabin of Peter the Great, located in Saint Petersburg, Russia, is a historic wooden house that served as the first palace of Tsar Peter the Great. Built in just three days in May 1703 by soldiers, this small log cabin combines traditional Russian izba architecture with Dutch Baroque influences. Covering only 60 square meters, it features three rooms and is known for its ornate windows and painted wooden walls. Peter occupied the cabin while overseeing the construction of St. Petersburg and later had it encased in a protective pavilion. It has since become a national monument, housing personal items of the Tsar and reopening as a museum after World War II. Visitors can explore this unique piece of history, which symbolizes the modest beginnings of the imperial city.
