Wasa-Aktie-Bank Building

The Wasa-Aktie-Bank Building, located at the intersection of Eteläesplanadi and Kasarmikatu in central Helsinki, is a historic office building constructed between 1898 and 1899. Designed by architect John Settergren, it showcases Gothic architecture influenced by Renaissance palaces in Venice and Spain. Originally serving as the headquarters for Wasa-Aktie-Bank, the building features a facade made of Orsa sandstone and displays the coat of arms of Vaasa. Over the years, it has undergone several renovations and currently houses offices for Pohjola Varainhoito and the Royal Bank of Scotland, making it a blend of historical significance and modern banking operations.
