Plantation House, Saint Helena

Plantation House serves as the official residence of the governor of Saint Helena, located just south of the capital, Jamestown. Built between 1791 and 1792 by the East India Company, this historic site features significant architectural alterations, including a major extension in 1816 and updates in 1960. Designated as a Grade I listed building, it offers tours of its state rooms by appointment. The grounds are notable for housing Jonathan, possibly the world's oldest living tortoise, alongside other giant tortoises, making it an intriguing destination for both tourists and researchers.
