Edgar Allan Poe Cottage and associated ghost lore

Edgar Allan Poe lived in the cottage in the Bronx from 1846 until shortly before his death in 1849; the cottage is preserved as the Poe Cottage historic site and museum. Because of Poe's literary association with macabre themes, visitors and guides have long related ghost stories and alleged paranormal experiences at the site; such stories appear in local tourism and folklore accounts.
