Chauncey Ellwood House

The Chauncey Ellwood House is a historic 19th-century Italianate residence located in Sycamore, Illinois, and is part of the Sycamore Historic District. Added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1978, this striking red house features a full-length front porch supported by elegant wooden columns and a picturesque backyard pond, known as Patten's Pond, which has ties to local Native American folklore. The house was home to Chauncey Ellwood, brother of barbed wire pioneer Isaac Ellwood, and offers a glimpse into the architectural and cultural history of the region.
