S.J. Lesem Building

The S.J. Lesem Building, located at 135-37 North 3rd Street in Quincy, Illinois, is a historic commercial structure built in 1871 for the S.J. Lesem Brothers and Company. As the last remaining building from the once-thriving Wholesale Row, it showcases a beautiful Italianate architectural style with distinctive tall, narrow windows, brick pilasters, and cast iron columns. The building served as a dry goods store before becoming home to the Quincy Casket Company from 1912 to 1977. It was recognized for its historical significance and added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1999, making it a noteworthy site for tourists and researchers interested in local history and architecture.
