Savage-Stewart House

The Savage-Stewart House, located in Athens County, Ohio, is one of the region's oldest buildings, dating back to 1804. Known as the 'Ackley Farm', it showcases unique architectural features typical of early Ohio's affluent structures, such as ornamental balustrades and fluted columns. Originally granted to Continental Army captain Abijah Savage as a reward for his Revolutionary War service, the property has a rich history tied to its prosperous owners, benefiting from its fertile location along the Hocking River. In 1980, it was listed on the National Register of Historic Places for its historical significance and distinctive architecture, despite being largely abandoned and overgrown today.
