Sun Bowl - one of the nation's oldest college football bowl games

The Sun Bowl game was first played in El Paso in 1935 and has been held annually at Sun Bowl Stadium since its founding. It is widely cited as one of the oldest college football bowl games in the United States; some sources characterize it as the second-oldest continuously operated bowl game after the Rose Bowl. The stadium on the UTEP campus hosts the game each December and has been the event's longstanding venue.
