Toronto Harbour Commission Building

The Toronto Harbour Commission Building, constructed in 1917, is a historic six-storey structure located in Toronto, Canada. Designed by architects Alfred Chapman and McGiffin, it features a striking exterior of Indiana and Queenston limestone. Originally serving as the headquarters for the Toronto Harbour Commission and later for PortsToronto, the building now houses the popular Harbour Sixty Steakhouse on its lower floor. Although it once stood on the waterfront, urban development has since moved it inland, surrounded by taller buildings. The site is also known for its ghostly legend, as the spirit of former janitor Thomas Cates is said to haunt the premises, often spotted in the north-western stairwell. In 2017, the building was sold for CA$96 million and is set to be integrated into a new commercial office development called The Hub.
