Bellevue (Goode, Virginia)

Bellevue is a historic home near Goode, Virginia, built in phases from 1824 to 1870 in the Federal style. This two-story, five-bay brick dwelling features a central hall plan and hipped roof, accompanied by frame wings, a school dormitory known as Inkstand, dependencies, a garden, and a family cemetery. After the Civil War, it was repurposed as a boys' high school by James Philemon Holcombe and remained in use until the late 19th century. Bellevue was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1990 and is part of the Bellevue Rural Historic District, making it a significant site for both tourists and researchers interested in American history and architecture.
