Teochew Building

The Teochew Building, completed in 1963 and located on Tank Road in Singapore, is a significant historic site that serves as a cultural hub for the Teochew community. Originally constructed on the grounds of Tuan Mong High School, it features a large hall capable of hosting 1,000 people and houses offices for the Teochew Poit Ip Huay Kuan and Ngee Ann Kongsi. The building has undergone several renovations, transforming into a center for cultural activities, including art exhibitions and Teochew operas. Notable events include the opening of Ngee Ann College and the establishment of the Ngee Ann Kongsi Heritage Hall, which showcases the history of the Ngee Ann Kongsi. A recent agreement between the Teochew Poit Ip Huay Kuan and Ngee Ann Kongsi has paved the way for a $40 million redevelopment, ensuring the building's continued relevance in Singapore's cultural landscape.
