Loew's Kings Theatre (decades-long vacancy before restoration)

Loew's Kings Theatre, a 1929 movie palace in Brooklyn, was closed in 1977 after decades of decline and remained largely vacant and derelict for more than three decades. The ornate auditorium and public spaces suffered from water damage, vandalism, and neglect while the building sat abandoned until a multi-year restoration project began in the 2000s. The theatre was restored and reopened to the public in 2015, but its long vacancy made it a notable example of an abandoned historic entertainment building in New York City. The marquee and façade are on Flatbush Avenue in the Flatbush neighborhood.
