Boston Public Library - McKim Building (Beaux-Arts)

The McKim Building of the Boston Public Library was designed by McKim, Mead & White and completed in 1895 as an exemplar of Beaux-Arts architecture. Its Bates Hall reading room is noted for a long barrel-vaulted ceiling, rows of arched windows, and oak reading tables. The building influenced the design of American public libraries and the library complex is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
