NHL awards Las Vegas an expansion franchise (Vegas Golden Knights)

The National Hockey League approved an expansion franchise for Las Vegas on June 22, 2016; the team announced its name, the Vegas Golden Knights, in November 2016 and began play in the 2017–18 NHL season. The Golden Knights play their home games at T-Mobile Arena and achieved rapid on-ice success, including reaching the Stanley Cup Final in their inaugural season. T-Mobile Arena has since been the primary NHL venue in Las Vegas.
