The Heidelberg Project

Created by artist Tyree Guyton beginning in 1986, the Heidelberg Project is an outdoor community art environment that transforms houses and vacant lots on Heidelberg Street using paint and found objects. It has drawn international attention as a long-term, site-specific public-art installation and community arts program. The project has also been subject to periodic removals and demolition by city officials, and it continues to operate programming and exhibitions through the Heidelberg Project organization.
