Ethridge House (Hope, Arkansas)

The Ethridge House, located at 511 North Main Street in Hope, Arkansas, is a historic two-story wood-frame structure built in 1894 and modified around 1912. Notable for its Tuscan-columned front porch, the house was originally constructed for Richard Ethridge, a local drug store owner. It holds historical significance due to its association with his daughter, Miss Mabel Ethridge, a dedicated performing arts teacher who influenced many students over her 40-year career. The house served as a social hub for students during the summer. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1993 but was delisted in 2024, making it a point of interest for both tourists and researchers exploring local history.
