Paramount Theatre (Austin)

The Paramount Theatre on Congress Avenue opened in 1915 as a vaudeville and silent-film house. The historic venue retains period architectural details and a Wurlitzer-style theater organ that was used to accompany silent films. The Paramount was restored beginning in the 1970s and today operates as a nonprofit performing arts venue hosting films, concerts, and community events. It remains a landmark of Austin's downtown cultural scene.
