Valkendorfsgade 36

Valkendorfsgade 36 is a historic Baroque-style townhouse located in the Old Town of Copenhagen, Denmark, opposite the House of the Holy Ghost and near the bustling shopping street Strøget. Constructed in 1838, the building has a rich history, having been home to notable figures such as court painter Christian Peter Getreuer and lawyer Nicolai Peter Rostrup. The architecture features a striking reddish-brown brick facade with white decorative elements, and it was designed as part of a fire house concept by architect Johan Cornelius Krieger after the Great Fire of 1728. The building was listed as a protected site in 1918 and underwent restoration in 2018, earning recognition at the Renover Awards. Today, it houses a restaurant on the ground floor and a kindergarten on the first floor, making it a vibrant part of Copenhagen's cultural landscape.
