The Black Hawk (historic Fillmore jazz club)

The Black Hawk at 589 Fillmore Street was a prominent mid-20th-century jazz club in San Francisco's Fillmore District that helped define the city's jazz scene. Renowned performers such as Miles Davis, Dave Brubeck, and Thelonious Monk played the venue. Miles Davis's Live at the Blackhawk (1961) was recorded at the club. The Black Hawk contributed to the Fillmore's reputation as a major center for West Coast jazz.
